Always. We never apply new silicone over old. We cut out and strip every trace, clean the substrate, treat any mould, and let the area dry before applying fresh silicone. This is why professional results last years while DIY peels off in months.

We recommend waiting 24 hours for the silicone to fully cure. Most sealants are touch-dry within 2–4 hours, but water exposure before full cure can compromise the bond.
